On the fourth Space Day of China and centering on the theme of “pursue space dream for win-win cooperation”, CASIC held a variety of activities across the country to impart in several ways knowledge of space, cultivate innovative culture and expand foreign cooperation; to call on all staff and cadres and all sectors of society to develop a good understanding of the guiding principles from the Party’s 19th National Congress and follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; to pursue the ideal and constantly enhance the faith of developing a strong army through technologies and making contributions through aerospace development and to raise the sense of mission and responsibility of building an aerospace power to contribute to the realization of the space dream, the “strong army” dream and the Chinese dream.
On April 24, the Group headquarters held the flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the arrival of the fourth Space Day of China. Gao Hongwei, Secretary of the Party Leading Group and President of CASIC, Chen Guoying, member of the Party Leading Group and Deputy General Manager of CASIC, Lin Qing, Leader of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Group and member of the Party Leading Group and Gong Bo, member of the Party Leading Group and Deputy General Manager of CASIC as well as all the staff of the headquarters attended the ceremony.
On April 24, the 2019 China Space Day Home Event was held jointly by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China National Space Administration and the People’s Government of Hunan Province in Changsha City, Hunan Province. Du Jiahao, Secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee, Xu Dazhe, Deputy Secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Hunan Province, Zhang Kejian, Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology and Director of the China National Space Administration, Wu Yanhua, Deputy Director of the China National Space Administration and academicians and experts in the aerospace field attended the launch ceremony of the home event and the opening ceremony of the China Space Conference. Liu Shiquan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leading Group and General Manager of CASIC, attended the opening ceremony and main venue activities.
In the morning of the 24th before the launch ceremony of the 2019 China Space Day Home Event and the opening ceremony of the China Space Conference, Xu Dazhe met with Liu Shiquan and other members of the CASIC’s delegation participating in the 2019 China Space Day Home Event. Xu Dazhe spoke highly of the achievements made by CASIC and hoped to further strengthen cooperation with CASIC in terms of their technology industries in Hunan Province to aid the development of Hunan Province through aerospace intelligence and solutions. Liu Shiquan, on behalf of the Party Leading Group of CASIC thanked the leader of Hunan Province for his concern in aerospace cause and hoped that both Hunan Province and CASIC would better develop through in-depth cooperation of both parties.
After the opening ceremony, Liu Shiquan accompanied the leaders participating in the ceremony to the exhibition called “space exploration boosts Chinese dream” to witness together the landmark achievements and industry outcomes made by CASIC. Visitors were all deeply impressed by major commercial aerospace projects exhibited by CASIC such as Kuaizhou rockets and “Five Clouds + One Train” as well as characteristic aerospace industries in Hunan Province including airship products, new materials and environmental protection.
In the afternoon, Liu Shiquan attended the Hunan Space Industry Development Forum and presented the outcomes of cooperation between CASIC and Hunan Province in recent years. He stated that CASIC would stick to the development concept of “exchanging information, sharing resources, coordinated efforts, opening up and cooperation and mutual benefit and win-win” and deepen cooperation with governments of all levels, colleges and universities and enterprises of Hunan Province by taking development of aerospace materials as the new industry development direction and the research and development of lighter-than-air aircrafts as the support for industry development, thus fully leading and driving industry development of CASIC and Hunan Province.
In the afternoon of the 24th, Liu Shiquan attended the UN/China Forum on Space Solutions: Realizing the Sustainable Development Goals, and witnessed on the opening ceremony together with the Director and superior leaders of UNOOSA the exchanging of the agreement on “satellite launch cooperation” among COSTAS (Shenzhen) Technology Co., Ltd., Expace Technology Co., Ltd. And Beyond Atlas AB.
During the period when the activities for the Space Day were held, the Third Research Institute of CASIC signed an agreement with Hunan University on collaborative innovation and research center; Hunan Space Huanyu Communication Technology Co., Ltd. signed a joint venture contract with COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co., Ltd. on the joint venture project for composite tooling. Affiliates of CASIC signed several cooperation agreements with governments of all levels, colleges and universities and enterprises of Hunan Province, marking a new page for strategic cooperation between CASIC and Hunan Province. CASIC will further strengthen strategic cooperation with Hunan Province, and promote industry layout of CASIC in Hunan Province and industry development of CASIC’s enterprises in Hunan Province.
On April 24, Wei Yiyin, member of the Party Leading Group and Deputy General Manager of CASIC attended the activities held by the Group Company and the government of Wuhan City of Hubei Province. As pointed out by Wei Yiyin in his speech, CASIC has cooperated with the local government in various aspects. In particular, the new achievements made at the Wuhan National Space Industry Base are the new contributions made by people in the aerospace industry in the new era. In the future, CASIC will, by exploiting resources in various aspects, especially intelligence resources, capital resources and abundant social resources of the local government, make greater contribution to the economic development and national defense construction of China.
Additional report: On April 23, Li Yue and Fu Zhimin, academicians of Social Sciences Section of International Academy of Astronautics on behalf of CASIC’s academicians of International Academy of Astronautics attended the Seminar on Innovation-driven Development Boosted by IAA Academicians held in Changsha City, Hunan Province.
Relevant leaders of CASIC delivered a speech titled Innovating Aerospace Technology Application and Empowering Development of Intelligent Industry on the 2019 China Space Conference.
