Since China moves closer to the center of the world stage as history progresses, CASIC is striding ahead to the overseas market. In particular, the "Belt and Road" Initiative proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping gives wings to CASIC to go out and space to continuously march toward high-quality development.
In 2018, CASIC ranked 346th among the top 500 enterprises of the world and 398th among the top 500 world brands. This year saw CASIC's substantial increase in international operating income which was up nearly 30% year on year and accounted for more than 20% of CASIC's total operating income, with the transnationality index up to 4.8%. At the first CIIE, the HANNOVER MESSE and other world top events, CASIC made its grant debut as an enterprise. To serve the "Belt and Road" Initiative, CASIC stepped up the projects such as intelligent terminal factory in India, IEE Sensing GDL, as well as power grid extension project, dam and road project in Kenya. In addition, CASIC also took the lead in formulating the first international standard for intelligent manufacturing service platform. Its international cloud platform of CASICloud went online in 7 foreign languages and had more than 20,000 international registered users. The released overseas demand exceeded USB 5 billion and the online cooperation, purchase and sales exceeded USB 1 billion. The Smart Cloud Manufacturing Service Research and Demonstration Project was listed as one of the key special projects of cooperation between the Chinese and German governments in scientific and technological innovation. Meanwhile, CASIC and Siemens AG reached strategic cooperation in the field of industrial Internet and intelligent manufacturing, jointly built the prototype room of electric coupler intelligent factory, and made a case of INDICS-based demonstrative production lines of Simens' digital enterprises on the cloud.
On the way of striding towards internationalization, Gao Hongwei, Chairman of the Board and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of CASIC, said that CASIC has increasingly become a practitioner of the concept of interconnection and mutual benefit, a disseminator of the open and confident image of Chinese enterprises and a narrator of Chinese enterprise stories in the course of continuously moving towards the world. CASIC is devoted itself to serving overseas markets with China's space technologies, products and system solutions, and also to creating a business card and a window for the world to perceive China, striving to make its contributions to boosting cross-cultural exchanges and mutual learning, enhancing people-to-people connectivity, jointly pursuing the "Belt and Road" Initiative, practicing the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, and promoting the peaceful development of the world.
Serving the "Belt and Road" Initiative and Practicing the Concept of Mutual Benefit
In response to the "Belt and Road" Initiative proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, CASIC strives to promote international cooperation through the Belt and Road Initiative as its obligatory lofty mission and major responsibility. Since 2018, CASIC has been moving its competitive production capacity and superior products to the wider world, exporting various products to Belt and Road countries, and undertaking a number of projects in these Belt and Road countries. It has successfully completed the construction of the intelligent terminal factory in India and IEE Sensing GDL, as well as Hong Kong's Immigration Control System Project and the Hong Kong Section of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and successfully won the bid for the following projects: dam and road project in Kenya, Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit in Pakistan, project entitled "the Next Generation of Integrated Companies Registry Information System", and Tax Control and Electronic Invoice Management System Project of Uganda Revenue Authority. Meanwhile, CASIC has taken well-ordered steps to advance the Zanzibar Electronic Tax Administration Project in Tanzania and the Identity Card Accreditation Center Project in Angola.
As introduced by Wei Yiyin, Deputy General Manager and Member of the Party Leadership Group of CASIC, in the process of pushing forward the progress of relevant projects in Belt and Road countries, CASIC always conscientiously combines the enterprise development with the local development of these projects, strives to better share the accomplishments made by China in the space industry with the countries, does more to standardize its business practices, abides by international standards, as well as laws and regulations of the countries where the projects are located, respects local customs, and actively integrates into local communities to serve local people, to show a good image of China with a corporate image of cooperative development, compliance management and harmony.
For example, China Aerospace Construction Group (Kenya) Co., Ltd. (CACGK), affiliated to CASIC, undertakes the Kenya Power Transmission System Extension Project as well as dam and road construction. The Kenya Power Transmission System Extension Project is the first project implemented by CACGK, involving one 40km long 400kV double-circuit overhead transmission line, two 132kV single-circuit overhead transmission lines with the total length of about 170 km, as well as the construction or extension of two 400kV substations, the construction of two 132kV substations and the extension of two 132kV substations. The project is planned to be commenced in 2019. Upon the completion of the project, the Konza Substation will have 6 sets of 400kV transformers with the largest unit capacity in Kenya at present. The project will greatly improve the current situation of Kenya's national power grid, enhance the power supply safety and transmission capacity of the looped power network in the southwest region of Kenya, and provide guarantee for the people's life and economic development in Kenya.
While consolidating power construction projects, CACGK also takes an active part in building an industrial platform based on specialized contracting of water conservancy and road projects. Since 2018, CACGK has signed contracts for the KOSACHEI Reservoir and Spring Protection Project and the Kangundo Road Project, and is also making efforts to develop other infrastructure projects.
The KOSACHEI Reservoir and Spring Protection Project is located in Eldoret in the west of Kenya, involving dam construction, reservoir desilting, irrigation, spring protection in the water source area, water supply facilities and distribution pipelines. Upon the completion, the project can regulate local water resources, prevent flood disasters, increase agricultural production, effectively protect local drinking water resources, and meet the water needs of local residents and schools. The Kangundo Road Project is located in the east of Nairobi. It is a municipal asphalt road with the total length of about 10 km and the width of 15 m. Upon the completion, the project can ease traffic difficulties in the project area, improve the traffic efficiency and facilitate the travel of local people, thus advancing the economic development of the project area to a certain extent.
As a civilian product brand of the Third Academy of CASIC, Huachuang Tianyuan Industrial Developing Co., Ltd. (HTIDC) is devoted itself to paving "Chinese pipelines" to the world and has won praise from international customers by virtue of its high-quality pipelines and services. Its overseas construction team has 12 skilled pipeline installation and operation workers who "fight" alone in Asia, Africa, Europe and South America, providing technical support and services in more than 40 countries including Bolivia, Myanmar, Russia, Pakistan and Peru, as well as Belt and Road countries. Working in different environments including plateaus and marine areas, deserts and beaches, and areas sufferings from wars and cholera, the construction team has overcome the difficulties of language communication barriers and different construction standards, to popularize and apply Chinese top installation technology of steel mesh reinforced PE pipes and process pipes globally, move the quality and service of Chinese products to the world, and make the Chinese brand known throughout the world.
Enlarging International "Circle of Friends" and Expanding New Space for High Quality Development
Under the guidance of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, CASIC gives equal emphasis to "going global" and "bringing in", strives to go to the world and integrate itself into the world with unprecedented coverage and depth, grasps the opportunities of international cooperation in the space field and deeply digs cooperation needs. Meanwhile, CASIC also continuously deepens the strategic cooperation and economic and technical cooperation with overseas dominant enterprises and research institutions, and keeps on accumulating rich experience and making successful cases in serving overseas markets and developing international cooperation, to invigorate the enterprise development and provide powerful support for better expanding a new space for high-quality development and keeping the initiative in development.

This year, CASIC took an active part in the construction and application of the international industrial Internet and took the lead in formulating the first international standard for intelligent manufacturing service platform. Its international cloud platform of CASICloud went online in 7 foreign languages and had more than 20,000 international registered users. The released overseas demand exceeded USB 5 billion and the online cooperation, purchase and sales exceeded USB 1 billion.
CASIC and Siemens AG have reached strategic cooperation in the field of industrial Internet and intelligent manufacturing. In 2018, CASICloud and Siemens (China) concluded a cooperation agreement on intelligent manufacturing projects to jointly serve the intelligent manufacturing market.
In just one year, CASIC and Siemens AG jointly built the prototype room of electric coupler intelligent factory and equipped the prototype room with a set of collaborative manufacturing system of a whole value chain. The prototype room effectively integrates the software and systems of downstream and upstream enterprises on the value chain, forms a longitudinal link that covers research and development, design, resource planning, manufacturing and operation, and other parts of the value chain, and realizes data-driven multi-variety small-batch flexible production with mixed production lines.
Meanwhile, CASIC has also made a case of INDICS-based demonstrative production lines of Simens' digital enterprises on the cloud. This case is based on advanced technologies like finite-capacity optimization and scheduling technology and production line digital twin technology in the intelligent manufacturing field. It covers all links of the whole industrial chain including operation analysis, equipment and quality analysis, resource allocation and optimization, production control, and marketing, and embodies the cloud manufacturing ecosystem integration and other scenarios in a centralized manner. It can be used widely in a variety of manufacturing enterprises.
While moving towards the world, CASIC is also communicating with the world and integrating itself into the world, shaping the corporate image and increasing the brand influence.
In 2018, CASIC proactively shouldered the mission of image exhibition, continuously participated in a series of top events in the international space field and manufacturing field as an enterprise, including the first CIIE, HANNOVER MESSE, Farnborough International Airshow, International Astronautical Congress, ARMY Russia, China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services and China-Eurasia Expo, to showcase its development achievements, shape a corporate image, build a corporate brand, disseminate the development concept, value pursuit and operation of Chinese aerospace enterprises, and show a good Chinese aerospace enterprise image to the world.
According to Wei Yiyin, an enterprise's external image, cultural power and international reputation are increasingly becoming the key to gaining development advantages, and also influencing the international community's impression and perception of China. CASIC moves towards the world precisely in keeping with China's development and China's image building.
As a global top event in the manufacturing industry, the annual HANNOVER MESSE always attracts worldwide manufacturing enterprises to compete with each other for their respective high-end competitive products. In 2018, CASIC made its brand new debut as an enterprise on this international stage and showcased about 70 products and solutions covering five major sectors: "industrial Internet and intelligent manufacturing", "intelligence and security", "special equipment", "new material and industrial base ware" and "environmental protection technology".
On the 2019 HANNOVER MESSE, CASIC made its third appearance as an enterprise, fully showcasing great examples of industrial Internet platform enabling traditional industries and promoting transformation and upgrading, as well as a series of new technologies, products and applications based on innovation and upgrading in the high-end equipment manufacturing field. These products and solutions, corporate image and development concept showcased at the exhibition left a deep impression on visitors from home and abroad. A large number of major scientific and technological achievements and products such as industrial Internet have become impressive business cards of Chinese aerospace enterprises.
At this exhibition, CASIC also carried out intensive and extensive researches, exchange visits, negotiations and promotion, and received Siemens AG, business delegation of Dresden, municipal government delegation of Moscow and other international partners for business cooperation to seek more intensive and extensive international cooperation.
At the first CIIE, the delegations led by Gao Hongwei, Chairman of the Board and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of CASIC, and other relevant leaders of CASIC, respectively, participated in the opening ceremony of the first CIIE and the Hongqiao International Economic and Trade Forum, the Chinese Central SOE International Cooperation Forum, the 2018 Intelligent Technology and Industry Forum for International Cooperation and other activities. CASIC invited 20 important foreign enterprises to participate in the CIIE and reached procurement cooperation with them on site, creating a total contract value of RMB 1.2 billion. Meanwhile, CASIC organized three supporting activities on site to promote international cooperation, product release and project promotion, and to take the import exposition as an opportunity to expand new import channels.
At the 2018 Zhuhai Airshow, CASIC gave its historical largest exhibition of new system, equipment and platform. For the first time, it set up an outdoor display area covering 2,000 m2 and showcased more than 40 sets of new equipment of different types, comprehensively displaying its accomplishments made in defense equipment, commercial space and civil industry. At the show, CASIC received 450,000 visitors, more than 700 leaders and guests from home and abroad, and created a total contract value of RMB 42.4 billion.
In view of how to further advance the internationalization and high-quality development of CASIC, Gao said that CASIC must make further progress while maintaining stability, make good use of external forces and form a wide circle of friends to realize the aim of going global. CASIC should move its products and services as well as its values to the wider world so as to go global economically and culturally, and strive to make greater contributions to showing a good country image and creating a good external environment.
