On December 14, CASIC and Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) concluded a comprehensive strategic cooperation framework agreement, marking that the two sides will rely on their respective advantages to expand and deepen cooperation around scientific research and personnel training.
Yuan Jie, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of CASIC, Chen Guoying, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of CASIC, Zhao Changlu, Secretary of the Party Committee of BIT, Zhang Jun, President of BIT and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Long Teng, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of BIT, and leaders from relevant departments and organizations of CASIC and BIT attended the event.
Yuan Jie and his party first visited BIT's National Defense Science and Technology History Achievements Exhibition Hall, Leike Defense Electronic Information Engineering Center and National Key Laboratory of Science and Technology on Materials under Shock and Impact, and then the two sides concluded a comprehensive strategic cooperation framework agreement and held discussions and exchanges.
Yuan Jie said in his speech that in the 80-year development course, BIT has trained a large number of outstanding talents, formed a perfect discipline system and produced fruitful results, providing important talents and scientific and technological support for the development of China's space industry and national defense science and technology industry. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to BIT for its long-term concern and support for the development of CASIC and China's space industry.
Yuan systematically introduced the overall situation of CASIC and the progress of cooperation with BIT. To strengthen follow-up strategic cooperation between CASIC and BIT, Yuan put forward the following requirements: First, the two sides should pay close attention to the major national strategic needs, serve the main battlefield of national defense science and technology, and jointly cultivate major national science and technology projects, undertake major national science and technology programs and major projects, bring their joint advantages into full play in research and technological breakthrough, and apply for major national scientific research projects. Second, the two sides should further strengthen research on key technologies, jointly carry out basic research, applied research, early development and achievement transformation of advanced technologies, and comprehensively strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence, big data, intelligent perception, advanced detection, and cloud computing. Third, the two sides should promote the construction of national innovation platforms, focus on major national needs and national defense frontiers, adapt to the trend of new revolution in military affairs, give full play to their respective advantages, and strive to create national laboratories and other national innovation platforms, build disruptive, leading and platform-based integrated large-scale comprehensive research bases, and continue to produce national defense science and technology innovations with world influence. Fourth, the two sides should work together to intensify the training of graduates of informatization- and intelligence-related majors represented by artificial intelligence, big data, software engineering, new generation network and communication (network security), strengthen the construction of school-enterprise clubs and cooperation in education, and deepen cooperation in disciplinary and major development, expert introduction channels, and mutual employment and sharing of experts.
Zhao Changlu expressed his thanks to CASIC for its support and help for BIT in scientific and technological innovation and personnel training over the years, and congratulated CASIC for its achievements in serving the national strategy, the national defense development and the national welfare and the people's livelihood. Zhao put forward the following requirements for the follow-up cooperation: First, CASIC and BIT should grasp the new starting point and aim at the new national strategic needs, to make systematic planning and develop top-level cooperation. Second, in the face of the new development pattern of China, CASIC and BIT should focus on high quality, systematically sum up experience on the basis of original project teams and research groups, and create a model of industry-university-research cooperation. Third, to make great achievements, CASIC and BIT should give full play to their respective advantages, strengthen advanced research, take an active part in innovation-driven development, give birth to landmark achievements, and create scientific and technological forces to serve the national strategy.
Zhang Jun pointed out that BIT and CASIC have maintained long-standing ties, and should continue to strengthen industry-university-research cooperation, especially in key new areas, strengthen cutting-edge, basic and standard scientific and technological cooperation, aim at the new fields during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period and seize new commanding heights. Zhang also said that BIT and CASIC should exert their respective advantages, set up joint laboratories and experimental centers around personnel training, industrial Internet and cyberspace security, so as to promote common development of both sides and make new and greater contributions to the building of a great modern socialist country.
