On the morning of February 22, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the State and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, met with representatives of the participants of the Chang'e 5 Lunar Mission at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and visited the exhibition of lunar samples and achievements of the Lunar Exploration Program, fully affirming the achievements of the Lunar Exploration Program, especially the Chang'e 5 Lunar Mission. He stressed promoting the lunar exploration spirit and giving full play to the advantages of the new system of pooling national resources and strengths to ascend the peak of science and technology and serve the country's overall development. He emphasized embarking on a new interplanetary exploration journey step by step, promoting the innovative development of China's space exploration cause, and making greater contributions to humanity's peaceful use of space.
Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji and Han Zheng, members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended the event. Yuan Jie, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC), Tang Xueshu, the technical director of the ground measurement and control equipment project of Long March 5B launch vehicle and the Technology and Engineering Department Manager of Beijing Aerospace Measurement and Control Technology Development Company under aerospace system, Cao Zhe, the administrative person in charge of Chang'e 5 rendezvous and docking microwave radar products and the director of Institute No.25 of the Second Academy, and Fan Kaichun, the technical person in charge of Chang'e 5 lunar surface flag presentation system and deputy chief engineer of CASIC Sanjiang Department 9, and other representatives of CASIC staff participated in the research and test.
As one of the main contractors and deputy commander-in-chief of the Lunar Exploration Program, CASIC has developed and produced a series of high-performance, high-precision and highly reliable products such as high-precision accelerometer, γ shutdown sensor, lunar surface flag presentation system, microwave radar for lunar orbit rendezvous and docking, and two measuring radars to support the "orbiting, landing and sample returning" of Chang'e 5.
The implementation of the Lunar Exploration Program is a major strategic decision made by the Party Central Committee to seize the general trend of China's economic and scientific development, and six exploration missions have been accomplished since its inception. Chang'e 5 Lunar Mission, as China's most complex and technologically advanced space system project, returned China with the country's first samples collected from the extra-terrestrial object on December 17, 2020, laying a solid foundation for China's future lunar and planetary exploration.
President Xi Jinping met representatives who participated in the research and development of the Chang'e 5 Lunar Mission of Lunar Exploration Program, which encouraged the cadres and workers of the Corporation.
Yuan Jie said that General Secretary Xi Jinping meeting with representatives of the Lunar Exploration Program Chang'e 5 Lunar Mission participants in research and development, fully demonstrated that the Party Central Committee, the State Council, the Central Military Commission attach great importance to the development of China's space industry with affectionate care, and is highly encouraging and inspiring for all space cadres and workers. As one of the main contractors and deputy commander-in-chief of the Lunar Exploration Program, the Corporation has made important contribution to the success of this mission via multiple subordinate units.
Yuan Jie pointed out that the Corporation will quickly organize study to deeply understand the spirit of the speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping when he met with the representatives of the participants of the Chang'e 5 Lunar Mission of the Lunar Exploration Program and visited the exhibition of lunar samples and achievements of the Lunar Exploration Program, vigorously carry forward the spirit of lunar exploration of chasing dreams, daring to explore and cooperating to win; enhance innovation-driven development on the new development stage by implementing new development concept and new development pattern; continue to reach record height in scientific and technological development to accelerate the construction of a world-class aerospace defense corporation, celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party with high-quality development and excellent achievements in Party construction, and make new and greater contributions to building a major power in space, supporting the construction of a world-class army, and building a modern socialist country in all aspects and achieving the second Centenary Goal.
As a representative of the team to accept the meeting with General Secretary Xi Jinping, Tang Xueshu was overwhelmed with excitement, he said: "This is an honor for our team. We are very proud that the ground measurement and control equipment we developed can play an important role in a series of national major projects such as Manned Spaceflight and Lunar Exploration Program, for which we also shoulder great responsibilities. My team and I will take this as a starting point, cherish the honor, continue to carry forward the spirit of spaceflight, the spirit of lunar exploration, and work hard to make due efforts to accomplish the mission, to make more and greater contributions to the construction of our country into a major power in space."

Fan Kaichun and his team were responsible for the development of Chang'e 5 lunar surface flag presentation system. The moment when the five-star red flag was successfully unfurled on the lunar surface has always been fresh in his mind. He said, "At that moment, we were all excited, our wish for many years finally came true, and we felt a sense of pride and achievement for our country. I felt very honored to be met by General Secretary Xi Jinping as a representative, which made me very excited and encouraged. On the new journey of accelerating the construction of the nation a strong space power, I will keep in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping's wishes and expectations for China's space science and technology workers, staying true to our original aspiration and mission, and contribute my strength to the development of China's space industry."
