On April 25, the All-China Women's Federation, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering jointly launched the Initiative of Women in Science and Technology Innovation. Shen Yueyue, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and president of the All-China Women's Federation, attended the launching ceremony, stressing the need to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important remarks, to inspire the female science and technology workers to adhere to the "four focuses" (focus on the world's science and technology frontier, focus on economy, focus on the major needs of the country, and focus on the people's lives and well-being), carry forward the spirit of scientists, take the lead in independent innovation, scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement to climb the peak of science and technology, and dare to dream and act upon it to make due contribution to the construction of strong power in science and technology.
Wang Zhigang, Minister of Science and Technology and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, delivered a speech. Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the All-China Women's Federation Party Leadership Group, Vice President and First Secretary of the Secretariat, presided over the launching ceremony and announced the activities of Initiative of Women in Science and Technology Innovation.
Relevant responsible comrades from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, full-time and part-time vice chairpersons of the All-China Women's Federation in Beijing and comrades from the Secretariat, Yuan Jie, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of CASIC, Fang Ming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), and relevant comrades from the ACFTU Women Workers Committee, China Women's Association for Science and Technology, China Women's Ltd., the All-China Federation of Women Workers Committee, China Association of Women in Science and Technology, China Medical Women's Association, China Women's Chamber of Commerce, Beijing Women's Federation, China Life Insurance and People's Daily attended the launching ceremony.
At the launching ceremony, the leaders presented awards to the representatives of outstanding female science and technology workers who won the titles of March 8th Red Banner Pacesetter (collective), Woman Pace-setter, and Woman Civilization Model.
Two individuals and four collectives from CASIC were awarded the titles of Woman Pace-setter and Woman Civilization Model.
Wang Guiling, Yan An and Ma Tianhui, as outstanding representatives of women in science and technology of CASIC, together with other five representatives, brought forward a proposal to the women nationwide, calling on the majority of women in science and technology workers to make new achievements in scientific and technological innovation, start new journey, firmly uphold ideal and belief, to shoulder the mission of the times; adhere to the "four focuses" (focus on the world's science and technology frontier, focus on economy, focus on the major needs of the country, and focus on the people's lives and well-being), carry forward the spirit of scientists; excel in their work and innovation, to make a good start for the "14th Five-Year Plan", and contribute women's wisdom and strength to the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist country.
It is reported that there are about 40 million female science and technology workers in China, which is an important force indispensable for promoting scientific and technological innovation. Seven departments jointly issued the Opinions on the Implementation of Initiative of Women in Science and Technology Innovation, in which, deployment and clear requirements on 8 topics were put forward, including strengthening of responsibility, carrying forward the spirit of scientists, organizing women science and technology volunteer services, enhancing talent team building.
