On October 1, the 69th International Astronautical Congress was held in Bremen, Germany. China Aerospace Science & Industry Corporation (CASIC) actively participated in activities such as exchanges with high-ranking figures, business matchmaking, paper presentations and exhibitions. At the aerospace exhibition, CASIC released its key commercial aerospace projects, Kuaizhou launch vehicles, spatial information applications, full industry chain service of commercial aerospace, etc. to further exchange the experience and communicate with the counterparts around the world, comprehensively demonstrate the image of China's aerospace enterprises and expand international aerospace technology and economic & trade cooperation. Previously, Mr. Xia Guohong, the former General Manager of CASIC, was awarded the Allan Emil Memorial Award of the IAF Awards 2018. The award ceremony was held during the closing ceremony.
Further exchange the experience and communicate with the counterparts around the world
CASIC actively participated in the activities at the International Astronautical Congress. On September 30, Wei Yiyin, a Vice President of CASIC and an academician of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), attended the IAA Academy Day, and had a meeting with Peter Jankowitsch, President of IAA.
On October 1, Wei Yiyin, a Vice President of CASIC, Feng Zhigao, General Manager Assistant, and relevant members of the delegation were invited to attend the opening ceremony of the International Astronautical Congress. During the venue tour activity after the opening ceremony, Wei Yiyin introduced the development status and future plans of CASIC to Zhang Kejian, Director of China National Space Administration and other foreign space agency directors who visited the exhibition hall of CASIC.
Wei Yiyin, Feng Zhigao and relevant members of the delegation were invited to attend the plenary meeting of space agency directors, and they had an in-depth understanding of the development status and future plans of those space agencies.
On the first day of the exhibition, a lot of representatives from space agencies and enterprises all over the world visited the exhibition hall of CASIC, and CASIC carried out the business matchmaking activities with organizations concerned. Among them, Liu Jiyuan, the former General Manager of China Aerospace Corporation and the former Director of China National Space Administration, and Bao Weimin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the former Director of the Science and Technology Commission of CASC, visited the exhibition hall of CASIC, and they had an in-depth understanding of the commercial aerospace projects.
CASIC actively carried out activities such as exchanges with high-ranking figures and business matchmaking. On the first day, Wei Yiyin conducted in-depth exchanges with Roberto Battiston, Director of Italian Space Agency. Wei Yiyin gave a detailed introduction to the relevant fields in which CASIC is willing to cooperate with the Italian Space Agency and related enterprises. Battiston expressed appreciation for the development plan and progress of CASIC in the field of commercial aerospace projects, and expressed his willingness to promote the international cooperation between CASIC and institutions and enterprises in Italy.
In addition, CASIC strongly supported and actively organized its experts to participate in relevant activities organized by the International Astronautical Federation and the International Academy of Astronautics at the International Astronautical Congress. Subsequently, relevant officers of CASIC will have a meeting with officers and experts from the International Academy of Astronautics, the International Astronautical Federation, the German Space Agency and enterprises in important aerospace fields to promote cooperation and exchanges.
Systematically demonstrating the development blueprint in the commercial aerospace field
At the exhibition, CASIC comprehensively demonstrated its development blueprint in the commercial aerospace field. In recent years, CASIC has pursued transformation and upgrading with technological innovation, business mode innovation and management innovation. Based on the development concept of “information exchange, resource sharing, capacity coordination, opening up and cooperation, as well as mutual benefit and win-win result”, CASIC integrated domestic and international resources, vigorously implemented the development plan for the commercial aerospace industry, actively promoted the implementation of the “Five Clouds and One Train” project (the key project of commercial aerospace) in an orderly manner, and has achieved phased results. In addition, CASIC has made great progress in fields such as launch services for commercial launch vehicles, commercial satellites development and spatial information applications. Two commercial launching missions of KZ-1A launch vehicle have been successfully completed. The Kaituozhe launch vehicle successfully launched the Tiankun-1 satellite. The construction of Wuhan National Aerospace Industry Base commenced. CASIC has initiated to set up the Yangtze River Aerospace Fund with the total scale of RMB 10 billion. CASIC has been committed to cooperating with a wide range of social resources to create new business modes for the commercial aerospace industry in China in accordance with the orientation of “mobilizing the wits of whole society in the development of overall design institute, overall design department and final assembly plant”.
“Kuaizhou” brand has become a new name card for commercial launching
In the development of commercial aerospace, the propulsion enjoys priority. The capabilities of launch vehicle determine the level and scale of space application. CASIC makes great efforts to promote the development of launch vehicle technologies, and has developed “Kuaizhou” solid launch vehicles for commercial aerospace launching, which can provide commercial aerospace launching services featuring with “low cost, high reliability and high orbit injection accuracy” for global customers.
At this exhibition, CASIC mainly exhibited KZ-1A and KZ-11 solid launch vehicles. It is known that the first commercial launching of KZ-1A in early 2017 and its second commercial launching at the end of September achieved complete success, and were highly favored by the commercial launching market. In the global commercial launching field, the launching price of KZ-1A is also more competitive.
In addition, CASIC demonstrated the micro-satellite platforms, core products for spatial information application, and services in the whole industry chain at this exhibition.
Wei Yiyin said that there are three objectives for CASIC attending the International Astronautical Congress, namely, further exchanging the experience and communicating with the counterparts around the world, comprehensively demonstrating its development blueprint and the latest achievements in the commercial aerospace field and looking forward to the international cooperation with elites from industries all over the world to strengthen the peaceful use of space resources. CASIC will sincerely seek broader and deeper international cooperation with its counterparts in a more active manner. We aim to work together to develop space technologies, exploit space resources, and promote the flourishing of the global commercial aerospace industry, as well as the vision of peaceful use of space and the benefit of human society.
